Modern Society Doomed?

A NASA-funded study is predicting that modern societies will self-destruct as the Earth’s resources deplete. A researcher says, “Collapse is difficult to avoid” because the “elites consume too much” and will create “an inequality-induced famine.” The researchers stress that technology won’t be able to save us, as it actually causes more consumption of resources. The only way to avoid the collapse of society would be to distribute resources more fairly, use less-intensive renewable resources and reduce population growth. Even the experts admit the solution is “just as difficult and improbable as it sounds.” We might not be able to make the world’s elite consume less, but at least we can continue to simplify our own lives. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle as they say. Hopefully if enough people get on board it will get the ball rolling and save us from imminent doom!
