The Flu and You
The Flu and You

Winter is back this week…and that means flu season is still with us.

Is your immune system up to the task?

ABC News has some signs that your immune system is vulnerable:

You eat a lot of sugar

Studies show that sugar prevents your white blood cells from fighting off bacteria.

You’re not drinking enough water

You need plenty of fluid to flush out toxins.  Just make sure your pee is pale yellow to be sure you’re getting enough liquid.

You’re overweight

You already knew this wasn’t good for you, but it turns out that excess weight is hard on your immune system.  You might have inflammation or hormonal imbalances that make it harder to fight infection.

Your nose is dry

It sounds gross, but snot is actually healthy.  If your nasal passage is too dry, it’s the perfect environment for germs.

You’re stressed out

Stress weakens your immune system, and if you’re stressed while you’re sick, it’s even harder for your body to recover.

You’re fighting off a cold

Getting 3 to 4 colds a year is normal, but if you’re constantly fighting one off, that means your resistance may be low.

Simple changes can bring you health for the rest of the Winter…and beyond!

Today in entertainment history: Nov. 26

FILE - In this March 5, 2009 file photo, Michael Jackson is shown at a press conference in London. Testimony from AEG Live executive Paul Gongaware on his interactions with Jackson and his negotiations with the singer’s doctor dominated the fifth week of a civil case against the company filed by the superstar’s mother, Katherine. On Tuesday May 28, 2013, Gongaware reluctantly acknowledged that he negotiated the $150,000 per month rate that Jackson’s doctor expected to be paid to serve on the “This Is It” tour.

A look at the Hollywood headlines that made history.
