Canadian tour bus rolls over in Adirondacks; 1 dead

NORTH HUDSON, N.Y. (AP) — State police say Canadian tour bus carrying 56 people rolled over Friday in upstate New York, killing a teen girl and seriously injuring several other people.

State Police Maj. Richard Smith says the Canadian teenager was partially ejected from the bus and pinned underneath it. She had been traveling with her mother on the bus from Trois Rivieres, Quebec.

The was bus traveling to New York City for a three-day tour when it rolled over after 7:30 a.m. on Interstate 87.

Smith said the injuries among the other passengers included broken bones and cuts. None appeared to be life-threatening.

There was no apparent sign the 61-year-old driver skidded before the bus broke through a guard rail, fell on its side and slid down a grassy hill.

The cause remains under investigation.
