Red Cross officials are issuing a call for blood donations, saying the need right now is urgent in our area.
Carlos McCluskey with the Tompkins County chapter of the Red Cross says while there are shortages now, they’ve had to deal with similar problems all year, thanks to a tough winter.
“Schools are out, it’s usually a challenge during this time of the year,” McCluskey said. “During this past winter, we had a pretty big shortage due to the inability for people to go to blood drives.”
