Donald Trump appears at Erie County fundraiser

DEPEW, N.Y. (AP) — Real estate mogul and reality TV star Donald Trump has provided a preview of what a campaign to be New York’s governor might look like.

He called New York’s new gun control laws a disaster, supported fracking for natural gas and criticized Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s tax policies for businesses at an upstate New York fundraiser Friday.

Trump was the featured guest at a $100-per-person event held by the Erie County Republican Party in suburban Buffalo.

The New York City developer has met with Republican leaders about a possible challenge to Cuomo. But he repeated Friday his condition that he’ll only run if the state’s Republican Party rallies behind him and he faces no challengers for the nomination.

Rob Astorino, an official in suburban Westchester County, is also considering running.
