4th of July phone safety tips

Yesterday, we told you how the 4th of July weekend can be dangerous for your pets.

It’s not great for your phone, either.

Asurion says there are 48% more phone accidents on the Fourth than any other day of the year followed by Memorial Day and Labor Day (see a pattern here?) with cracked screens, water-logged phones and lost ones.

How to keep your phone from becoming a statistic?

Don’t assume it’s waterproof  Although there are many stories of phones still working after months at the bottom of a lake, that not always how it goes.  The type of water matters,  too: Water with salt or chlorine is worse.

Add contact info to your home screen  Take a screenshot of someone in your contacts and set it as your wallpaper so if you lose your phone, whoever finds it can get in touch.  Just doing that triples your chances of getting it back!

Get your cracked screen fixed  Cracked screens make your phone a lot more susceptible to water damage..even just humidity can seep in slowly and cause issues.

Might be time for an upgrade!
