“Unwritten rules” of air travel

Flying somewhere this summer?

Kayak did a survey on the “unspoken rules” of air travel.  Here are some results:

Can you recline your seat?  88% say yes…but a third say only on long-haul flights or red-eye flights

Does the person in the middle seat get both arm rests?  57% say NO…they have to share.

Can you bring smelly food on a plane?  An emphatic NO from 92% of respondents.

Can you take your shoes off?  A split decision…56% say no, 44% yes…but 76% agree your socks should stay on.

Can you put your feet up?  Nope…68% say you should never put your feet up against the seat in front of you.

Can you talk to someone if they’ve got headphones on?  Another hard NO…94% say it’s the equivalent of wearing a “do not disturb” sign.

Can you laugh loudly while watching a movie?  58% say no…chuckles are fine, though.

Can you make a phone calls once you’ve landed?  69% say wait until you’re off the plane.
