Dangerous Summer toys

It’s officially Summer…which means the kids are home and ready to play!

Not all Summer toys are safe for kids, though.

A consumer protection group called ToySafety.org released its annual list of the most dangerous toys kids play with in Summer which include:

Water balloon slingshots  They can cause eye injuries especially if kids use them to shoot other things, like rocks…pnd they have small pieces that are choking hazards.

Lawn darts  The pointed tip darts have been illegal since 1988 but they still make them with weighted tips.  They’re not sharp but they can cause head injuries.

Big Wheels and other low-rider tricycles  They’re really hard to see when you’re driving so be careful about when and where you let your kids use them.

Slip ‘N Slides  There’s a real risk of head, neck, and spine injuries with them…and not just for kids because adults are heavier and slide faster, which is why the packaging usually says they’re just for kids, not adults.

Swimming pools  Always pay attention when your kids are in or near a pool…even those little baby pools you fill with a hose can be a major risk as young children can drown in less than TWO INCHES of water and in less than 30 seconds.
