Deciphering “teen-speak”

Ever wonder what the heck your kids are talking about?

What parent hasn’t?

USA Today has the most commonly used terms used by teenagers…they are:

  • Sus –  Short for “suspect”
  • Bet – Used to express agreement…akin to “Uh huh” and “Yep”
  • Yeet – Used when throwing a useless object
  • Salty – When you are upset over something little
  • Cap – Another word for lying…as in “No cap (ie no lie) or “Stop capping (lying)
  • Extra – Being over the top, excessive, dramatic
  • Bussin – what you would say if something was really good
  • Bougie – Used to describe someone as high class, literally or figuratively
  • Sheesh – Used when you’re impressed or amazed by something
  • Drip – Coolness…whether it’s an outfit/accessory, person, song, etc.

How many did you know? 🤔
