Decoding “Gen-Z”-speak

Does it sound like your teenager is speaking a different language?

They ARE!

In fact, Amazon just announced a new Alexa feature that can help you “decode” what they’re saying.

You can now just ask Alexa to “talk Gen Z to me.”

They added 20 of the most popular terms to start and some of them you know:  “Ick” means disgust, “tea” means gossip, “sus” means suspicious, “mid” means mediocre and “rizz” means charisma.

Still with us? 😂

Here are a few more from The Mirror:

“Drip” is trendy, high-class fashion as in “Did you see that guy’s watch?  He’s got drip.”

“The math isn’t mathing” means things aren’t adding up.

“Ate” is used to praise someone with style like “You ate with that outfit.”

“It’s giving” describes a vibe you’re giving off…”I love your outfit.  It’s giving Beyoncé.”

“Mother” is someone who’s iconic or like a mentor, for example “Rihanna is mother.”

“Air” is to intentionally ignore someone as in “Why is he airing my messages.”
