Do you have “boreout”?

We’ve talked about the real phenomenon of “burnout” at work…but perhaps you’re burnout is really “boreout”.

“Boreout” is trending after Forbes reported on it.

It has a lot of the same symptoms as burnout, but instead of feeling overwhelmed by work, you’re underwhelmed and BORED by it!

It doesn’t mean you’re lazy or don’t do much.

“Boreout” can happen because you’re in the same role too long, don’t see opportunities for growth or don’t interact with coworkers very much.

It’s more common than it used to be because we’re more mentally “checked out” at work now and it’s part of a larger issue called the “Great Detachment” where we feel less connected to our jobs and don’t find as much purpose in them as we used to.

Are you “boredout”?
