If you’re trying to lose weight in the new year, just make sure you don’t overdo it: Your body needs nutrients to keep firing on all cylinders.
The NY Post says more than half of people worldwide aren’t getting enough vitamins and minerals in their diet.
Here are some subtle signs you might be in that group:
Brittle fingernails. Lots of things can cause it, including cold weather, nail polish remover, thyroid issues or just washing your hands a lot…but it can also be a sign you need more iron or protein.
Eyelid twitching. It could be stress, caffeine, eye strain or you’re low on sleep. It can also be a sign you’re low on magnesium. Bananas, beans, spinach, fish, nuts, and oatmeal are a few good ways to get more.
Your knees keep clicking. Popping, cracking, or clicking sounds in your joints could just mean you’re getting old but not getting enough calcium can cause it, too. You might need more vitamin D that helps your body absorb calcium.
You bruise easily. Again, some of us are just more prone to it, especially as we age but it can also be a sign you’re low on vitamin C, which helps produce collagen or vitamin K, which helps your blood clot.
