Eight ways to live a longer life

Everyone wants to live a long, happy life.

You can make it happen, too!

The American Heart Association came out with their “Life’s Essential 8” checklist that could add up to six years to your lifespan!

Here’s the list:

  • Eat better  Less processed food.  More whole foods, veggies, nuts, and seeds.
  • Be more active  Adults need at least 75 minutes of moderate exercise a week.
  • Don’t use tobacco  That includes vaping.
  • Get enough sleep  Seven to nine hours a night for adults and up to 10 for teens.
  • Keep your weight in check  A BMI between 19 and 25 is ideal.
  • Control cholesterol  High levels of “bad” cholesterol cause heart disease.
  • Manage your blood sugar  Eat right and exercise to avoid Type 2 diabetes.
  • Keep your blood pressure in check  120 over 80 (or less) is ideal.

People who check all of these off tend to have a “biological age” that’s lower than their actual age….so, you might be 51, but on a cellular level, you’re more like 45.

Added bonus:  You’ll FEEL healthier, too! #WinWin
