Have you stuck to your New Year’s resolutions?
If not, don’t worry…4 in 5 of us will give up on theirs by mid-February.
There are some things you can do to increase your odds, according to Forbes.
First, pick one goal. Don’t try to change everything at once. Choose the one that’s most important to you. The more focused you are, the better your odds of success.
Then put it in writing. You’re much less likely to lose focus if you have your goal in front of you every day.
Make it public. Tell some trusted friends, let your boss or coworkers know or even post your goal on social media…it’ll give you an incentive to stick with it.
Be sure to keep yourself accountable. Get a a friend, coworker or family member directly involved. If you’re sharing your goal with someone else, you’re less likely to let them down and thereby sticking to your goal.
And, just in case, have a plan if you fail. Many of us end up not meeting our goals because of our “all or nothing” mentality. Go in expecting a few setbacks along the way and have a plan for how to regroup when they do.
People who followed these five steps achieve their goals 80% of the time…good luck!
