(Healthily) Navigating the holidays

The holidays are a marathon of cookies, cocktails, and casseroles—and yes, those extra 200 calories a day can quietly turn into 2-3 pounds by January!

But experts from Harvard say you can enjoy the season without needing a New Year crash diet.

Here’s how to navigate the buffet without feeling deprived:

  • Choose, don’t cruise. Pick the treats you love and skip the forgettable stuff.
  • Pause before seconds. Give your body 10 minutes to register fullness.
  • Don’t arrive starving. Eat something before you go.
  • Sip smart. Eggnog can hit 500 calories a glass!
  • Add movement. Take a walk before dessert or cut a rug.
  • Veggies are your friend. Load your plate with produce before the richer dishes.
  • Rethink recipes. Lighter versions still feel festive without the saturated fat.

And remember: one indulgent meal isn’t failure. The season is about connection, laughter, and memories—not food guilt.

Enjoy the celebrations, savor what you love, and let balance— not perfection—be your holiday mantra!
