Did you buy way too much Halloween candy (again) this year…or had less trick-or-treaters than usual?
How long will that extra candy last?
The NY Post has thoughts:
Chocolate candy, if unopened, should last up to a year. Dark chocolate lasts up to two years. For opened bags of loose chocolate candy, cut those timelines in half.
Candy corn keeps for up to six months if it’s stored at room temperature and an unopened package can last up to nine months.
Gummies also last six months to a year, depending on how it’s stored…a cool, dry place is best.
Sour candy will make it to next Halloween. If you open a bag, store it in an airtight container to increase its shelf life.
Hard candy like lollipops and Jolly Ranchers in theory can last forever if stored properly…but it does get gooier over time.
And, frankly, we can’t imagine any of it will be around that long!
