With N95 masks being made available for free in many locations, many are asking a simple question:  How long can you wear them for?

AP News reports it’s good for about two or three days before you’ll need to replace it.

Why?

When you breathe, particles accumulate on the mask and the longer you wear it, the harder it is to inhale and exhale.

Also the elastic bands can get loose and the masks may wear down because of dirt or moisture from sweat.

Oh, and remember you can’t wash them…once you’re done with them dispose of them properly and put a new one on!
