How to ace a “virtual” interview

Just like most things, many job interviews have moved to Zoom.

Glassdoor has a few tips to help you ace your “virtual” interview:

Test your tech  Make sure your camera and microphone are working and that you know how to use Zoom, Skype, GoToMeeting or whatever website you’ll be using.

Prep just like you would for an in-person interview  Some get lazy with at-home interviews.  Be ready to talk about the company, why you want to join it and why you’re the right fit.

Choose a quiet, well-lit space where you won’t be interrupted  People do judge you for your background so make sure it’s clean and professional…and try to keep the pets (and kids) somewhere else in the house.

Dress appropriately  Sweats won’t cut it…dress like you would for an in-person one.

Follow up immediately  Once the interview is over, send a quick thank-you email and mention a few key things you talked about in the interview…it doesn’t have to be long.  Most people don’t follow up after any sort of interview and it can really increase your chances of landing the job.

Good luck…you got this! 👍
