It’s Summer…and we ALL scream for ice cream. 🍨
Sometimes we scream after we eat it!
If you suffer from sphenopalatine ganglion…you may know it as “brain freeze”…there’s a simple trick to prevent it: Turn your spoon upside down!
It happens when something cold touches a bundle of nerves on the top of your mouth near the back.
Turning your spoon upside down allows your tongue to heat up the ice cream before there’s any direct contact with that group of nerves.
If it’s too late, Thrillist suggests to warm those nerves back up:
- Press your thumb (or your tongue) up into the roof of your mouth
- Breathe with your hands cupped over your mouth
- Drink something hot
How do you beat “the freeze”?
