Commemorating Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Memorial Day Weekend is here…do you know what we commemorate Monday?

It’s a day to honor the members of the Armed Forces who died in the line of duty to protect our freedom…it differs from Veterans Day, when we salute all veterans who’ve served and are still serving today.

Most of us will be celebrating a little differently this year according to the NY Post.

Many people will fly a flag, place a flag or flowers at a soldier’s grave, attend a patriotic event, fly their flag at half-mast and visit a monument or war memorial.

Here are some other ways to commemorate the day from The Mercury News:

  • Give your kids sidewalk chalk to make patriotic drawings or write thank-you messages to veterans on your sidewalk or driveway.
  • Donate flowers to a fallen hero…Memorial Day Flowers is an organization that coordinates placing flowers for interred veterans.
  • Pause for a moment of silence for those who’ve dies while serving our country during the National Moment of Remembrance Memorial Day Monday at 3pm.
  • Watch the “Parade of Heroes” Memorial Day special streaming on Facebook Monday morning, the “National Memorial Day Parade: America Stands Tall” special on the major TV networks Monday afternoon and PBS’ annual “Memorial Day Concert” on Sunday night.

However you do it, take a moment to recognize those who’ve given their lives to protect the liberties we love!
