Is washing hands with just water OK?

One of the best ways to prevent not only Coronavirus but also the flu is washing your hands.

Do you need soap or is just water enough?

Live Science says water is better than nothing…but doing it with soap really does the trick.

Here’s why: The two essential ingredients in most soaps are vegetable or animal fat and lye (also known as sodium hydroxide).

Instead of killing germs, soap removes them from your hands…and it’s excellent at it.

Germs tend to stick to the oil and grease on our skin and water alone doesn’t get rid of that oil because water and oil, just like the old proverb (wait for it!) don’t mix!

So it really is worth it to use soap…and to stock up on it.
