It’s “Denim Day”

Today is “Denim Day“…a day when the world wears jeans to raise awareness about all forms of sexual violence.

It began in 1999 when an Italian court overturned a rape conviction based on what the victim was wearing at the time…ever since, the last Wednesday of April has been a day to support the victims of sexual assault and to work toward eradicating it.

One in every six women have been a victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime…and it must end now.

The Advocacy Center of Tompkins County offers free services to victims of sexual or domestic violence and is a great resource to learn more about how you can offer your support.
