It’s National BBQ Day! 🥩

We are a week from Memorial Day (!) and you don’t want to go into THAT weekend out of grilling “shape”…so why not throw some T-bones on the barbie today and get some practice in?

Today is National Barbecue Day to “unofficially” kick off the grilling season…but for those of us here in Upstate NY we know that BBQ season NEVER ends!

What’s our favorite food to grill?

Burgers (Duh.) according to BuzzFeed with over 70% of the vote

They also paired up some of our summer favorite in a steel-cage death match…here are the results:

  • Burgers or dogs?  Burgers got 78% of the vote over hot dogs 22%
  • Chicken or pulled pork?  It’s close…47% said chicken while 46% said pork
  • Sausage or ribs?  Ribs won with 56% of the vote
  • Potato salad or coleslaw?  66% chose potato salad
  • Mac salad or mac-and-cheese?  Mac-and-cheese in a landlside with 77%
  • Watermelon or pineapple?  (Huh?) 69% said (Duh, again.) watermelon
  • Baked beans or cornbread?  Cornbread wins, 58-42%.
  • Grilled veggies or corn on the cob?  Corn on the cob gets 70% of the vote

Yelp joined in on the fun by ranking the 10 best BBQ cities in ‘Murica…it was our Brainbuster today…did you get it right? 🤔

Austin, Texas ranks #1 followed by San Antonio…Kansas City…Memphis…Charleston, South Carolina…Greenville, South Carolina (guess we should visit SC!)…Honolulu…Tulsa, Oklahoma…Durham, North Carolina and Nashville!

Dave confirms Nashville BBQ is 🔥(he was there last November!) and also would rank Kansas City BBQ high, too.

Locally of course we’re lucky to have Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse, Bob’s in Homer, Nickel’s in Watkins Glen, the State Bakery and BBQ in Newfield…which one is YOUR favorite? 🤔
