In case you didn’t know, today is Friday the 13th…and there’s also a full moon tonight!
Here’s some fun facts from Almanac, TreeHugger and the Washington Post:
It’s this year’s “Harvest Moon”, the full moon closest in date to the Fall Equinox.
It’ll also be a “micro moon”, when it’s farthest from the Earth…so even though it’s a full moon, it’ll appear slightly smaller and less bright than usual.
PLUS it’ll only be full for an instant. The moon will appear full but it’s only officially full when it’s exactly 180 degrees opposite the sun at about 12:33am.
And it’s very rare…the last Friday the 13th full moon was October 13th, 2000 and the next one won’t be until August 13th, 2049!
Hopefully you’re not worried about it…one-third of us are superstitious and 9% are very superstitious according to Today.
Men are much more likely to be very superstitious…and younger people are more so than older Americans.
Are you?
