Staying safe while online dating

Amid all of the silly challenges on TikTok there occasionally is some great advice.

A former detective went viral recently for sharing a tip that could potentially save your life while online dating, according to Yahoo.

He says when you post and send photos to others you reveal a LOT of personal information like your exact location, when the picture was taken and what kind of phone or camera you have.

So that selfie you took (or any other photo) and sent to someone you’ve never met before could lead them right to your front door!

Here’s how to keep yourself safe while online dating:

  • Go into your phone’s settings and change it so it doesn’t store location data
  • Send the photo through a social media app that will do it for you
  • Take a screenshot of the pic and send that instead
