Surviving the office Christmas party

Are you dreading your office Christmas party?

Business Insider is here to help with some advice to get you through it:

  • First off, DON’T skip it (unless you absolutely have to).  Stay for at least a half and hour before you head out the door.
  • DON’T go on an empty stomach.  Those Happy Hour drinks may go to your head.
  • DON’T avoid work topics…but don’t talk about JUST work either (there are better times to ask for raises!).
  • Stay away from religion or politics…again, better times!
  • DON’T use it as an opportunity to “get to know someone better,” if you know what we mean. It’s your office party, not a nightclub.
  • DON’T be the last one to leave, especially if you drink a lot.
  • NEVER go to a third venue.  An after-party drink is cool, but if you’re heading to another place, you may be heading for trouble.

Most important…have FUN! Not everyone gets an office party, so you should appreciate it and enjoy it!
