Taking a “sickie”

What’s the most popular month to take a “fake” sick day?

It’s this one!

A new HR Dive study found more people call out in January when they’re not really sick that any other month…and December is second.

The weather has a lot to do with it…and a third of us have done it, too.

Why?

To rest and relax topped the list, followed by spending time with family, running errands, to avoid traveling to work in bad weather (like this weekend) or to hang out with friends.

Some have called out to avoid a specific work event, like a meeting or presentation…just like the old high school days!

The vast majority of those who take a “sickie” do it once a year at most…though 5% do it at least once a MONTH(!)…and most feel guilty about it.

Have you faked a sick day?
