Temporary HEAP heating assistance

The government is once again back at work and SNAP payments have been received for those who need food assistance.

HEAP, however, has not yet restarted so until it does, United Way of Tompkins County is reopening their 211 ALICE Program for Tompkins County residents who are HEAP eligible and are facing utilities shut off notices and/or need fuel for heating.

As deemed eligible and as funding allows, United Way will make one-time payments on their behalf for the amount required up to $500.

To connect with 2-1-1 in Tompkins County, callers can dial 877-211-8667 or just 211.

They’re also accepting donation to help those in need of heating assistance…gifts can be made by visiting uwtc.org and selecting the “HEAP Response” link, texting “UWTC4HEAP” to 41444 or by making an annual donation through the “Donate” button and designating the UW/211 ALICE Program.

Questions and pledges can also be directed to campaign@uwtc.org or by calling (607)500-GIVE and selecting options 2 or 5…and thanks!
