The best diets for the new year

If you packed on a few pounds over the last few months, you’re not alone.

Almost 70% of Americans say they’re in worse shape now than they were a year ago…and most want to do something about it.

U.S. News & World Report released its annual ranking of the best diets for weight loss and overall health and the winner once again is (drum roll, please!)…the Mediterranean Diet!

It includes a lot of fish, nuts, fruits and vegetables…but you also get to drink wine on it, so that’s a plus.

The DASH Diet (which helps lower high blood pressure and cholesterol) and the Flexitarian Diet (a mostly vegetarian diet) tied for second place.

If you just want to lose weight and keep it off, the Flexitarian Diet tied Weight Watchers for first place.

If you’re looking to lose weight fast, check out the HMR (or “Health Management Resources”) Diet…that’s a home-delivered weight loss plan…Weight Watchers and the Atkins Diet tied for second.

And the three EASIEST diets to stick to are the Mediterranean Diet, Weight Watchers and the Flexitarian Diet.

Good luck!
