The best masks to wear

There are many kinds of masks to wear these days…which one works the best?

A new Duke University study in Business Insider compared 14 kinds of face coverings to see which ones blocked the most particles.

And the winner is…the N95 mask (no surprise there)!

However the blue disposable surgical masks are almost as good though and homemade cotton masks with multiple layers also offer good protection.

Knitted masks with bigger holes like a scarf didn’t work as well and neither did bandanas, partly because they’re single-layer.

The worst mask by far?

Neck fleeces, or gaiters…the kind you wear around your neck.

They didn’t block a lot of particles and might actually make things WORSE by breaking up saliva particles into even smaller droplets which linger longer and are more likely to get someone else sick.
