The COVID vaccines…explained

There are now two COVID-19 vaccines being distributed in the US…the two-dose Pfizer one and the one-dose Moderna shot…here’s what you need to know:

  • The Pfizer vaccination is two-shot vaccine that’s the first to be administered to frontline healthcare workers, vulnerable residents of nursing home and some high-profile people like President-Elect Joe Biden and other elected officials. The first shot is followed by a booster shot a few days later.
  • The Moderna shot is also a two-dose shot that doesn’t need to be stored at sub-zero temps and is cheaper than the Pfizer one…it’s just starting to be distributed.
  • BOTH vaccines have been proven safe and effective against COVID-19
  • There have been some reactions to them from people with certain allergies…consult your doctor to make sure you’re safe to get vaccinated

When will you be able to get vaccinated? MSN has a vaccine calculator to determine approximately when you’ll have access to one.

And if you’re one of the 25% of people who aren’t a big fan of needles, Psycom has some tips to overcome your fear to get vaccinated and stay healthy.

We all need to do our part to defeat the pandemic…so until you get vaccinated, keep your distance, wash your hands and wear those masks!
