The DANGEROUS foods in your fridge

Have you cleaned out your fridge lately?

After this, you may want to!

Consumer Reports ranked the most dangerous foods based on the number of people who got sick or landed in the hospital last year the Big Three of food poisoning: Salmonella, listeria or E. coli (sometimes, more than one!).

They are:

  • Deli meat:  87 hospitalizations last year, and 10 deaths
  • Cucumbers:  No deaths, but 173 people hospitalized
  • Raw milk and raw milk cheese:  29 people in the E.R
  • Queso fresco and cotija cheese:  2 deaths, 23 hospitalized
  • Eggs: They landed 34 people in the hospital
  • Onions:  One death, 34 hospitalizations
  • Leafy greens:  One death, 36 people had to be treated
  • Organic carrots:  One death, 20 hospitalized
  • Organic basil:  Four hospitalizations
  • Pre-cooked meat:  That includes things like pre-made salads and frozen burritos because these items get recalled a lot.

You may want to clear these out…and toss that potato salad from Memorial Day! 🤢
