Travelling with your pet 🐶🚗

Planning on bringing your pupper along with you on your summer getaway?

Huff Post has some thoughts:

Are the accommodations pet-friendly?  You’ll have to do some research to find a hotel or rental that allows pets. Some hotels REALLY go out of their way to make your pet feel welcome, with beds, treats and other amenities…others not so much. KNOW before you go!

Will my pet enjoy this destination?  Some dogs are comfortable in new environments, around strangers and in crowded areas while others are better off at home playing fetch with a pet sitter.

Will my pet be comfortable?  You may love sitting out in the scorching midday sun, but your pet may not. Especially in summer, you have to be mindful about exposing your pet to things like heat exposure and other risks.

Can I bring what they need to keep them safe and happy away from home?  You’ll want to make sure you can bring things like their crate, a bed, water and food bowls, their leash, toys and any medications they need.

Is there access to vet care?  Get an idea ahead of time of how close the nearest emergency vet is just in case there’s an accident or sudden illness.

And maybe most importantly…will they (or you) enjoy it?  Things that sound good in principle don’t often work out IRL. If you’re hoping to relax and refresh, chasing your pet around all day may NOT be the vacation you hoped for!
