Today is National Sunscreen Day…which may be a day late if you look like a lobster from the Memorial Day weekend!
Perhaps you put it on too late!
Study Finds says you’re more likely to get a sunburn when you’ve been drinking…you’re more likely to misjudge how long you’ve been in the sun, more likely to pass out while tanning and more likely to not put any on at ALL.
But it’s not just when you’re drinking:
- 11% said they were working outside when they got sunburned
- 10% were swimming
- 7% were exercising
When you multitask it’s worse…43% said they were doing multiple things when they felt the burn.
Here’s some scary numbers:. In a YouGov.com poll, only 40% of people say they regularly wear sunscreen outside during the summer and just 16% say they “always” put it on. 32% say they slap it on “some of the time” and 25% claim they NEVER (!) put it on.
Sunscreen is the #1 weapon in the battle against skin cancer which develops later in life…when you can’t do anything about it…so as the song said, “Wear Sunscreen“!
