When kids should get an allowance (and other things)

Parenting just got a little more diffcult thanks to COVID-19…and it was no cakewalk in the first place!

A new Sun survey of 2,000 parents tried to determine age “benchmarks”…when your kids should be allowed to get (or do) certain things…the results:

  • First allowance at 9 years old
  • Playing outside without an adult around at 10
  • First phone at 11
  • Walking home from school alone at 11
  • First sleepover at a friend’s house at 12
  • First job at 13
  • Staying home alone at 13 years old

As always, your results may vary…but they’re a good starting point to decide when your kids should be ready to handle a little more responsibility.
