Why it’s good to wait

Who enjoy waiting…anyone?

Maybe we should.

We may live in an instant gratification world, but Study Finds says it can actually be GOOD for you!

Here’s why:

  • Being okay with waiting improves your self-control.  Waiting is an exercise in patience so being able to regulate your emotions and not get annoyed will only help you in the long run.
  • Waiting before you respond to an email or make a purchase can be a lifesaver.  People tend to react impulsively.  This intentional pause before you make a big decision could be the difference.
  • Waiting can also be fun, if you savor it.  How many times has the excitement and countdown for your trip been better than the trip itself?  If you turn waiting into a game, it can be fun.

So, instead of seeing waiting as an inconvenience, try to re-frame it in your mind as an opportunity to reflect or give your brain the gift of zoning out, free from judgment.
