Your flu survival kit

It’s the height of the flu season…and it’s been an extra nasty one, too.

Take heed of the Boy Scout motto: “Be prepared.”

Fox 5 Atlanta has a list of things to put into your “flu survival kit” at your home:

A thermometer to track your fever  Check your temperature at least twice a day when you’re sick.

Plenty of fluids  Water is ideal but it’s hard to drink enough when you’re sick so keep some drinks like Gatorade or Pedialyte around to help replenish electrolytes.

A fever and pain reliever  Think Tylenol or Motrin.  Be sure to read the directions first for any medicine you use and be extra careful when giving medication to your kids.

Medicine for chest congestion  Get a nasal decongestant for a stuffy nose and sinus pain plus a non-drowsy antihistamine for runny noses, postnasal drip or watery eyes.

Disinfecting wipes  They’ll help stop the spread of germs in your home.

Oh…and don’t forget the tissues…LOTS and lots of tissues!
