How many fruits and veggies should you eat every day?

We may have put the halt on dieting…but we’ll all trying to eat healthier these days.

How many fruits and vegetables should you eat every day?

Not as many as you may have thought.

A new study on healthy eating in Circulation found people who eat five servings of fruit and veggies a day lived longer…that’s five total!

More than that won’t hurt you but it also doesn’t improve your overall health.

The perfect amount is three vegetables and two servings of fruit a day…those who ate that combo lived longer than people who ate more fruits than veggies.

So how many of us get to the Magic 5?

Only 10%, unfortunately…but you should…because it lowers your cancer risk by 10%, heart disease by 12%, respiratory diseases like COVID by 35% and your overall risk of premature death by 13%.

Not all fruits and veggies are equal, though.

Leafy greens make a big difference but starchy vegetables like corn, peas, and potatoes don’t help us live longer…and neither does fruit juice…go for the real thing.
