Job interview “don’ts”

It can be challenging to find a job that fits your skills and one that you really want.

Be sure to sweat the “small stuff”.

Metro‘s got some little things that can derail your job pursuit:

Not applying for the job properly in the first place  E-mailing the wrong person or not using their online application system can stop your job hunt before it starts. Read the job description carefully and do exactly what they want.

Not being fun enough in your interview  People like working with people we enjoy being around so try not to come off as too rigid and boring.

Don’t overdo it, though Being TOO fun can also put potential employees off. Be likeable but also professional and not as if you’re hanging out at a bar with friends.

Using an “embarrassing” eMail address  “SkaterBro99” isn’t going to fly with most employers…but also using older addresses from AOL, Excite and Yahoo are seen as less professional.  Gmail is the new standard for workplaces.
