Keeping love strong during COVID-19

Sheltering in place with your loved ones can be challenging.

A new study in The Independent found that one in eight people who are currently locked down with their partner are starting to have some doubts about their relationship…it’s one in FIVE for 25-to-34-year-olds.

What can you do to keep your love strong while you stay at home?

Here are some tips from Time:

Appreciate, don’t criticize  Our flaws might seem magnified and more annoying right now so do your best to let things slide and focus on the good stuff.

Give them some privacy  Alone time is important, especially now so respect each other’s space and do your own thing sometimes.

Don’t “fight” it  Things can spiral out of control fast when you’re cooped up together so if you start fighting, take a break and cool off for 30 minutes or so.

Laugh together  Laughter’s a great stress reliever especially when you can laugh at something together so watch shows you BOTH enjoy.

Remember it’s okay to be stressed out and upset right now.  We’re all dealing with it differently so try to be a good listener and remember their feelings are valid, too.
