ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — State agencies are working to assist people receiving care for addictions in Tompkins County.

The Office of Addiction Services and Supports tells WHCU they’ve been in contact with Alcohol and Drug Council of Tompkins County since it was announced they would close.

In a statement to WHCU, OASAS says they are “…dedicated to ensuring that New Yorkers in need are able to access whatever type of care they need, no matter where they live. We have been in communication with the Alcohol and Drug Council of Tompkins County and are working to support their efforts to ensure continuity of care for patients in their programs, including connecting individuals in treatment to other services in the community.”

Reports say the Alcohol and Drug Council of Tompkins County will close because of financial challenges. Most staff are being laid off.
