Cornell University has celebrated its 150th anniversary all this year, but this weekend will bring alumni and supporters of the school to Ithaca for more than 40 events as part of the celebration.

Cornell President David Skorton and Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick kick off Charter Day Weekend with events in downtown Ithaca, including a Charter Day plaque dedication on the Commons just after noon.

Famous alums like Bill Nye and Jimmy Smits are just some of the names that will be part of the weekend celebration.

The events lead up to an official Charter Day ceremony Monday morning on campus to celebrate the school’s 150th year in existence. It was April 27th, 1865 when the governor of New York officially signed Cornell’s charter.

A full list of Charter Day Weekend events is available through the university’s website.
