Cornell University’s celebration of its sesquicentennial wraps up Monday with a ceremony on the Ithaca campus.
The 10 a.m. ceremony inside Barton Hall will begin with an academic procession, and will include a video made to celebrate the university’s 150 years in existence. It was April 27, 1865 when Cornell’s charter was signed by New York Governor Reuben Fenton.
Monday’s ceremony will include speeches by Cornell President David Skorton, school historians and officials, and New York Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul.
Throughout the weekend, more than 40 events were held in Ithaca to celebrate Charter Day Weekend. The celebration kicked off Friday with events in downtown Ithaca, including the unveiling of a sesquicentennial plaque that was installed in Bank Alley on the Ithaca Commons.

The weekend featured events, speeches and forums featuring Cornell students and famous alums such as Jeremy Schaap, Vivian Schiller, Bill Nye, Steve Squyres and more.
