ITHACA — The building is down, and now the clean-up and rebuild are next for the Chapter House Pub in Ithaca.
The building, which was heavily damaged in a fire back in April, was brought down on Tuesday. By Wednesday morning, crews were on-site cleaning up the debris. The site is currently fenced off, with signs that warn about potential asbestos exposure in the rubble.
Owners of the popular Chapter House PubĀ on Stewart Avenue have said since the fire that they were planning to rebuild. Last month, they unveiled plans for the remodel, as they hope preserve some of the history of the building, which dated back to the 19th century.
Fire officials still have not released a cause for that fire.
The owners have said they hope to have the Chapter HouseĀ open again for the beginning of the 2016 academic year.
