Health officials in Tioga County advise residents on bats

OWEGO, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Tioga County Health Department is warning people about bats.

Officials say the winged animals tend to slip into cracks in houses this time of year. They recommend inspecting the roof and outside walls for openings.

Officials say bats can transmit rabies. Anyone who comes into contact with the nocturnal creatures should contact Tioga County Public Health at 607-687-8600.
