Ithaca Board of Realtors warns again of Craigslist scam

Scammers on Craigslist and other websites are going through public records to steal photos and post it for rent, posing as property owners or real estate agents.

The Ithaca Board of Realtors is out with a warning, saying potential renters are being asked for personal credit card or social security information by scammers posting online as real estate agents.

The Board urges people to never give out personal information or payments beforehand, and if the rent or deposit seems too low, that’s usually a red flag.
