Cortland City Police responded to the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center on a report of a man who had been brought to the emergency room with a stab wound to the chest.
Officers determined 28-year-old David Sears-Lopez had gotten into an altercation with 56-year-old Harold Young. Sears-Lopez was apparently dating one of Young’s adult children. Witnesses report the argument turned physical before Young allegedly stabbed Sears-Lopez in the chest.
Despite being airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for emergency surgery, Sears-Lopez died as a result of his injuries.
