ITHACA — Police are investigating multiple reports of home invasions in Ithaca, in which a man entered a woman’s bedroom, stood at the foot of her bed, then fled when she woke up.

Cornell Police say the first incident happened around 5:15 a.m. on Thursday. Two females reported that a man came into their bedroom at 106 West Avenue and waited for them to wake up. When one did, the man said “sorry” and fled.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’7″, 150 pounds, with shorter light-colored hair and a clean-shaven face. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with Cornell written across the front.

Police say another woman reported that around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, a man entered her apartment on the 700 block of Stewart Avenue, and did the same thing, saying sorry and fleeing when she woke up. In that incident, the victim described the suspect as a white male, between 5’8″ and 6 feet tall, with a medium build, darker-colored hair and a clean-shaved face.

Police say that woman was prompted to call them when hearing about the first incident that happened earlier in the morning.

Last month, police say a man entered a woman’s apartment on Bryant Avenue and tried to remove her clothing as she slept.

Cornell Police urge anyone experiencing a similar situation to report the incident to Cornell or Ithaca Police. Community members are also encouraged to lock their doors and lower-level windows at night or any time a residence is unoccupied. Anyone with information related to these events is asked to contact the Ithaca Police Department at (607) 272-9973 or the Cornell University Police at (607) 255-1111.
