CORTLANDVILLE — A Cortland County man is accused of confronting a Cortland Community SPCA officer with a knife, after that officer had come to his home and warned someone about a dog that was running loose.

Sheriff’s investigators say Karl Morse, 45, of Cortland followed the SPCA officer after they left his home on Lamont Circle. Morse allegedly arrived at the SPCA location on McLean Road in Cortlandville, and confronted the officer while in possession of the knife. The incident was called in around 2:40 p.m. Thursday.

Sheriff’s officers arrived a short time later and took Morse into custody. He’s charged with:

  • Menacing a Police Officer or Peace Officer (felony)
  • Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth degree (misdemeanor)

Authorities say no one was injured. Morse is due back in Cortlandville court to answer to the charges October 31st.
