OWEGO, N.Y. (WHCU) — Leaders in Owego are delaying a decision on doors.

The Village Board is postponing spending about $26,000 to replace garage doors at the fire station on North Avenue. Trustee Charles Plater believes holding off is hazardous.

“In the long run, it is a definite safety issue,” he says. “Somebody’s going to get hurt with those doors coming down, or not opening when a crucial moment happens.”

But Trustee Rusty Fuller is uncomfortable with the cost. He says trustees are going to have “a lot of trouble” with the budget.

Talks will continue at the next meeting.
